Biography
2010-11 (Junior): Was one of SU’s regular backstroke swimmers during the season…posted a time in the 100-yard backstroke at the Crimson Hawk Dual Invite that was SU’s third-fastest of the season in the event…competed in sprint freestyle events during the season.
2009-10 (Sophomore): Made steady improvement as a backstroke swimmer during her second season with the team…improved her personal bests in the 50 and 100-yard backstroke by more than four seconds…ranked among the team’s Top 3 backstroke swimmers in each of the three flights…also swam sprint freestyle events during the year.
2008-09 (Freshman): Debuted as the team’s leading backstroke swimmer in her first season with the team while contributing to relays as well…led off the 200-yard medley relay squad at the PSAC Championships that placed sixth (1:49.14)…posted the best overall team time for the season in the 50-yard backstroke (28.24) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.39)…her 100-yard backstroke PR ranks ninth in school history…also finished with the third-best team time in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.42).
Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School: Four-year letterwinner…swam the 50-meter backstroke in 28.3 seconds…won the Spring National time trials…earned state championships in 2005 and 2006…received Third Team All-County honors in 2006, 2007 and 2008…garnered Second Team All-County honors in the 200-yard medley relay during the 2006 and 2007 seasons…set a county record as a First Team 200-yard medley relay performer as a senior…competed in the Spring National Meet in 2007 and 2008…served as a team captain during her senior year.
Personal: Full name is Kate Howe Johnson…is the daughter of Ken and Clarice Johnson…majoring in supply chain management…serves as the president of Shippensburg’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
