Biography

2009-10 (Sophomore): Wrestled 15 times for Shippensburg in his second season, all at 141 pounds…earned two wins in dual meets…picked up a major decision against an opponent from St. Andrews Presbyterian…competed in the PSAC Championships...took to the mats at the Washington & Jefferson Open.

2008-09 (Freshman): Completed his debut season as a versatile competitor and a determined worker with eight wins rotating between the 141 and 149 weight classes…earned two consecutive victories by fall against Millersville and UNC-Pembroke…gained plenty of seasoned experience with 27 competitions during the season…beat Western New England’s Ryan Komich by technical fall at the Binghamton Open…also earned a major decision over Elizabethtown’s Brian Frantz at the Messiah Duals…recorded one victory at the PSAC Championships against East Stroudsburg’s Matt Rizzo.

Cumberland Valley High School:
Was a DE Champion and earned sixth place at a Beast of the East tournament during his high school career…competed in the Mid Penn Conference under head coach Dave Heckard and for club team IRON…also ran for the cross country team.

Personal: Full name is Thomas Frederick Wiechelt…is the son of Tom and Cathy Wiechelt…majoring in geoenvironmental studies…has a sister, Suzy, who swam at Shippensburg and graduated in 2009, and another sister, Katie, who runs cross country at Shippensburg.
