Shippensburg University Athletics

2021 (R-Sophomore): Appeared in all 11 games on the offensive line, including 10 starts, as a versatile player up front…made eight starts at left guard, one start at right guard and one start at right tackle…participated in more than 90 percent of the team’s snaps during the season…contributed to an offense that ranked third in the conference in scoring.  
 
2020 (R-Sophomore): No season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
2019 (R-Freshman): Appeared in all 11 games as a tackle along the offensive line, earning starts at tackle positions in the final eight games of the season…participated in 89 percent of the team’s snaps during the season…took to the field for a season-high 87 snaps against Kutztown…registered 82 snaps at West Chester and more than 70 snaps in seven games…achieved coach grade-outs of 70 percent or better on multiple occasions, including a season-high grade-out of 74 percent at East Stroudsburg.
 
2018 (Freshman): Redshirt season.
 
Whitehall High School: Competed at the varsity level for the Zephyrs under head coach Brian Gilbert, a former SU quarterback…earned All-Colonial League Second Team honors and All-Area First Team honors…also played basketball. 
 
About Cruz: Full name is Markes Julyus Cruz…is the son of Herman Cruz and Cheyleen Nieves…majoring in exercise science with a human performance and fitness concentration while seeking minors in coaching and business…has two siblings: William Ortiz and Leanna Cruz.
