RECAP: Women’s Soccer claims road shutout at Mansfield, 4-0

Four different Raiders find the back of the net; Brown records seventh career solo shutout

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half Wednesday afternoon en route to a 4-0 shutout in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Mansfield.

Shippensburg (2-6-2, 1-6-1 PSAC East) got a goal in the third minute from Kamryn Runkle – the first of her collegiate career – and another in the 16th minute from Gabrielle Walker, to take control early on. Andrea Black assisted Walker's goal.

Runkle's tally was a long strike, capitalizing on a Mountaineer giveaway in the midfield. Walker's goal was a finish in the goal box from a cross.

SU scored twice in a five-minute span of the second half. Ashley Hughes found the back of the net to make it 3-0, and Paige Marek produced the final tally with a tap-in after a giveaway by the keeper.

Mansfield (1-9-0, 0-8-0) recorded six shots on goal, all of which were turned aside by Kirstin Brown. All six saves were made in the second half. It was the first solo shutout of the season for Brown and the seventh of her Raider career.

SU finished with a 14-6 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-0 margin in corners.

Shippensburg returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Lackawanna for Senior Day at David See Field.
