SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's tennis team took to the home courts for the second time in as many days on Saturday afternoon but was bested in a regional match by Frostburg State, 6-1, on a grey day at Robb Sports Complex.
 
Shippensburg (0-3) won three games in each of the three doubles matches but fell behind 1-0 entering singles. Frostburg State (2-0) swept two of the singles matches, but the Raiders won at least seven singles games in each of the other four flights.
 
Taylor Maguire emerged victorious in three sets against Jasleen Paquer to wrap up the match. She won the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3), dropped the second set 5-7, but claimed the tiebreaker 10-6. It improved her singles record to 2-1 thus far in the fall.
 
Ava Kalist dropped her first set 5-7 but stormed back with a 6-1 win in the second set to force a tiebreaker. Atlee Hilliard took the tiebreaker by a 10-6 margin to claim the match at No. 5 singles.
 
Renee Kinard went toe-to-toe with Ximena Ku, winning seven games in her match at No. 1 singles. She dropped the second set 5-7. Samhitha Koganti also won seven singles games in her match at No. 2 singles.
 
Shippensburg is back in action in 10 days when it hosts Penn State Altoona at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
