SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Shippensburg University junior defender
Cailin Spelman was named the season's inaugural Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Spelman scored a goal in each game as the Raiders posted an unbeaten 1-0-1 record in the opening week of the season.
She scored SU's second goal in a 2-2 draw against West Virginia Wesleyan Thursday at home, creating space with a tidy turn on the edge of the box and lofting a curling attempt on goal that sailed into the top left corner of the net.
She also scored the Raiders' second goal and earned a clean sheet in a triumph at Lackawanna Saturday, aiding an SU defense that held the Falcons without a shot on goal in the 6-0 victory.
Spelman's two goals doubled her career total (4).
It is the first weekly award of Spelman's career and she becomes the first Raider to earn PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week since
Kirstin Brown on Nov. 3, 2025.
