The Shippensburg University women's soccer team erupted for six goals and a clean sheet in a triumph over Lackawanna Saturday afternoon at Schautz Stadium in Dunmore, 6-0.
The Raiders (1-0-1) scored four times in the first half and maintained a 16-0 advantage in shots on goal over the Falcons (0-1-1).
Paige Marek netted her first two collegiate goals to highlight the Raider offense.
Emma Eisenhart scored her first goal of the season – and second of her career – to open the scoring in the 18th minute.
Cailin Spelman made it back-to-back games with a goal with a 28th minute strike to make 2-0.
Marek followed with a goal 10 minutes later, and
Andrea Black opened her collegiate account to make it 4-0 moments before halftime.
Gabrielle Walker converted a 73rd minute penalty kick and Marek added a second half tally to bring about the 6-0 final.
Hannah Menischeschi assisted on Eisenhart's opener, while
Kamryn Runkle provided the key pass on Marek's second.
Lackawanna goalkeeper Sophia Arvelo was credited with 10 saves.
Saturday's game counts toward SU's overall record, but does not count toward its NCAA record or the conference standings.
Next up, the Raiders begin Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division play when they host Shepherd Wednesday under the lights at David See Field. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m.
