SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Eight members of the Shippensburg University men's track & field team have been recognized as 2026 Men's All-Academic Athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This year's recipients are
Tommy Crum Jr.,
Chase Hensinger,
Jackson Hersh,
Donovan Kitchen,
Garrett Quinan,
Tyler Rossi,
Quinton Townsend and
Aidan Zimmerman.
It is the second straight season that Crum Jr., Hersh, Quinan and Townsend have received USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field classifications. It is the first honor for Hensinger, Kitchen, Rossi and Zimmerman.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete status for track & field, individuals must have compiled a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher and finished the season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS). Individuals on a relay that was among the top 35 (or the Top 35 expanded team relay list) are also eligible, along with any athletes not among the top 50 but who participated at the indoor or outdoor national championships.
The 2026 season marks the second in which this qualification criteria is in place.
Crum Jr. is majoring in communication, journalism & media, concentrating in broadcast media production, while pursuing minors in business and sports studies. He maintains a 3.65 cumulative GPA. His conference record in the indoor mile, his contribution to the distance medley relay (DMR), and his conference record in the outdoor 1,500 meters qualified him for the classification.
Hensinger graduated in May with a degree in supply chain management and a concentration in logistics management and a 3.30 cumulative GPA. His performance indoors with the DMR and outdoors with the 800 meters qualified him for the classification.
Hersh is majoring in mechanical engineering and maintains a 3.40 cumulative GPA. His performance outdoors in the javelin qualified him for the classification.
Kitchen is majoring in communication, journalism & media, concentrating in broadcast media production, while pursuing a minor in business. He maintains a 3.269 cumulative GPA. His performance indoors in the shot put, and his performances outdoors in the shot put and discus qualified him for the classification.
Quinan is majoring in civil engineering while pursuing a minor in mathematics and maintains a 3.635 cumulative GPA. His outdoor effort in the 10K qualified him for the classification.
Rossi is majoring in communication studies and maintains a 3.425 cumulative GPA. His indoor performance in the heptathlon and his outdoor performance in the decathlon qualified him for the classification.
Townsend graduated in May with a degree in finance and a 3.638 cumulative GPA. His indoor runs in the 200 meters and the 400 meters qualified him for the classification.
Zimmerman is majoring in exercise science with an allied health pre-professional concentration and maintains a 3.655 cumulative GPA. His outdoor performance in the javelin qualified him for the classification.
