SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University sophomore
Thomas Cano-Piszel was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Baseball Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.

Cano-Piszel went 8-for-13 in a four-game series against Shepherd, reaching base in 10-of-16 plate appearances (eight hits, two walks - .625 OBP). Impressively, he had two hits in all four games of the series.

The SU first baseman produced two home runs, two doubles, a sacrifice fly and totaled five RBIs. The 16 total bases resulted in a 1.231 slugging percentage for the week. He also scored six runs and struck out just once.

Cano-Piszel is currently riding a 13-game hitting streak and overall he has at least one hit in 31 of his last 32 games dating back through March 7 - his lone game without a hit came in Game 1 against West Chester on April 11. Through 42 games this season, Cano-Piszel has a registered a hit in 39 of them.

The Athlete of the Week award is the first of Cano-Piszel's career. He is the fifth Raider player to be recognized with a conference weekly award this season, joining
Brenden Anderson (April 27),
Ty Sherman (April 13),
Evan Shoffler (March 16, Feb. 17) and
AJ Wenrich (March 9).
