Kaitlin Calvello represented the Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team on Thursday by completing the first four events of the heptathlon on a sunny afternoon at the Susquehanna Multi held at Doug Arthur Stadium.
 
Susquehanna's multi meet tends to be one of the larger "multi-only" meets held annually in the Mid-Atlantic and due to the amount of competitors, there are two sections each for the men's decathlon and the women's decathlon.
 
Calvello is currently in the lead of the second heptathlon section – the "maroon" section – with a score of 2,393 points. The maroon section includes three other multis from Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools, including Mansfield's Alyssa Parks, who is in second place (2,315 points).
 
To begin the day, Calvello broke the 17-second mark in the 100-meter hurdles for the first time in her career, placing fourth with a time of 16.91 seconds that set a new personal best.
 
She then proceeded to post the No. 2 performance in each of the day's remaining events – with the first being a new outdoor PR in the high jump of 4 feet, 10 ¼ inches (1.48 meters).
 
A third personal best came in the shot put, in which her top throw traveled 32 feet, 11 ¼ inches (10.04 meters). She capped the day by completing the 200 meters in 27.70 seconds.
 
Calvello resumes her competition in the heptathlon at noon with the long jump.
