RECAP: Rossi, Bankert complete first half of decathlon Thursday at Susquehanna Multi

4/9/2026 9:20:00 PM

Tyler Rossi and Noah Bankert completed the first half of the decathlon Thursday as they represented the Shippensburg University men's outdoor track & field team in action at Susquehanna's Riverhawk Multi held at Doug Arthur Stadium.

Susquehanna's multi meet tends to be one of the larger "multi-only" meets held annually in the Mid-Atlantic and due to the amount of competitors, there are two sections each for the men's decathlon and the women's decathlon.

Rossi currently ranks 12th in the orange "elite" section with a score of 3,321 points while Bankert is in sixth place in the maroon section with a score of 2,919 points.

For Rossi, who is in his second collegiate season and first with the Raiders, this weekend's competition marks his first collegiate decathlon after competing solely in open events at Pitt. His shot put of 39 feet, 10 ½ inches (12.15 meters) was the No. 3 mark in the orange section and a new personal best. Thursday produced his first official outdoor results in the 100, high jump and 400.

Bankert had a strong start in the maroon section, running the 100 meters in 11.64 seconds before really impressing in the long jump with a new PR of 20 feet, 7 inches (6.27 meters). He was also able to slightly enhance his personal best in the shot put with a toss of 29 feet, 6 inches (8.99 meters).

The orange section of the decathlon is loaded with talent. In addition to three decathletes from Duquesne, the field includes Walsh standout Joel Brown (the 2026 NCAA Division II runner-up in the indoor heptathlon).

It is also a PSAC all-star squad of competitors past and present – as Rossi is facing the likes of Slippery Rock's Logan Anderson, Mansfield's Marcus Quaker, Edinboro's Connor Munson and Camden Kirker, and Lock Haven's Nick Bellomo.

As if that wasn't enough, Raider alumnus Mason Boyd and Lock Haven alumnus Matthew Muthler are competing unattached.

In total, five of the 15 competitors from last year's Division II National Championships decathlon (Anderson, Boyd, Brown, Munson, Muthler) and six of the Top 7 finishers from last year's PSAC Championships decathlon (Muthler, Munson, Boyd, Anderson, Bellomo and Quaker) are in competition in the maroon section.

Rossi returns to action at 10:30 a.m., while Bankert begins Day 2 at 12:15 p.m.
