Gabriel Lewis and
Chase Hensinger each delivered personal-best performances Friday that rank No. 2 all-time in school history in their respective event as the Shippensburg University men's outdoor track & field team got off to a great start at George Mason's Dalton Ebanks Invitational.
Lewis highlighted a tremendous day in the 200 meters for Shippensburg by running a second-place time of 21.20 seconds that is just .02 seconds off the school record. It is a new PR by .08 seconds that moves him out of tie for second place and into sole possession of second place in school history for the event.
Ke'Aune Green placed fifth, enhancing his PR by another .02 seconds with a time of 21.32 seconds that moves him up into a tie for fifth all-time in school history.
Ni'male Greenwood also impressed, delivering a personal best of 21.51 seconds that slots him 10th in school history.
Lavar Jackson improved his season best to 21.62 seconds.
Hensinger, meanwhile, is now one of just two men in school history to break the 1:50 mark in the 800 meters. Hensinger finished fourth overall with a stupendous time of 1:49.85 – a new PR by four-tenths of a second – and achieved an NCAA provisional qualifier with the performance.
Also in the 800,
Ben Hummel ran 1:52.93 and
Jackson Gutekunst finished in 1:55.34.
In total, the aforementioned performances were seven out of 16 on the day for the Raiders that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifying standards.
Under the lights around 9 p.m., a quartet of Raiders picked up their PSAC qualifiers in the 5K.
