SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team picked up a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader sweep over Millersville on Sunday afternoon by scores of 4-1 and 10-2 at Robb Field.

Shippensburg (32-14, 19-9 PSAC East) totaled 17 hits on the day, plating 14 runs. Millersville (21-27, 8-20) finished the day with seven hits and three runs. The Raiders drew 12 walks on the day, with nine of those coming in Game 2.

The Raider offense was paced by
Leah Schwalm,
Caitlyn Martell and
Lindsey Haser, each totaling three hits on the day.
Â
Schwalm went 3-for-7 at the plate, launching her second home run of the season in Game 2. She totaled three RBIs.
Â
Martell recorded an RBI with each one of her hits, totaling three off a double and a pair of singles.Â
Â
Haser delivered all three of her hits in Game 2, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Â
Sarah Sabocsik reached base in six of her seven times at bat – going 2-for-3 with four walks in the doubleheader.

Dani Hayward and
Kaira Zamadics got the wins in the circle for the Raiders. Hayward threw a complete game in Game 1 before earning a save in Game 2. She totaled 12 strikeouts on the day, allowing just four hits in nine innings of work while only walking two batters.

Zamadics got the win in Game 2, striking out a season-high five batters while allowing three hits.
Â
Shippensburg will return to action on Friday for a PSAC Eastern Division doubleheader at Lock Haven at 1 p.m.

GAME 1: SHIP 4, VILLE 1
Â
Hayward got right to work in the circle striking out three Marauders in a row.
Reagan Bauman was the lone baserunner for SU in the first inning after drawing a two-out walk, a fly out kept the Raiders from scoring.
Â
Hayward retired three straight batters in the second inning with a pair of groundouts and a strikeout.
Â
Rilee Ehlracher drew a walk in the bottom of the second.
Emilee Sullivan got SU on the board first with an RBI single. Sabocsik drew the second walk of the inning followed by an RBI single from Martell to make it 2-0.

SU got one runner on after a Millersville error in the third but was unable to increase its lead.

Hayward picked up two more strikeouts in the top of the fourth. The Marauders saw their first baserunner of the day after a two-out walk, but the Raider defense worked out of the inning with a ground out.

Sullivan notched a single in the bottom of the fourth followed by a fielder's choice play that put Sabocsik on base for SU. Martell picked up her second RBI of the game with a double to make it 3-0. Schwalm followed with a double to score Martell and increased the lead to four.

The Marauders had a pair of runners on in the top of the fifth after a leadoff double and a Raider error. A fly out kept the game 4-0.

Gianna Cimino delivered her first hit of the day in the bottom of the fifth.
Â
Millersville scored its lone run of the game in the top of the sixth. A leadoff hit by pitch, a single and a walk made the bases loaded. An RBI single made it 4-1. Hayward and the defense worked out of the inning with a strikeout and a groundout.

Sabocsik singled in the bottom of the sixth, but a pair of fly outs kept SU from adding anymore runs.

Three straight outs in the top of the seventh ended Game 1.

Hayward went the distance in the circle for SU, striking out eight batters while allowing three hits and walking two. Hayward did not allow a hit until the fifth inning.

Martell and Sullivan led the offense with two hits apiece. Martell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Sullivan went 2-for-2 at the plate and added an RBI. Five different Raiders recorded at least one hit.

GAME 2: SHIP 10, VILLE 2 (6 innings)

Millersville threatened to score in the top of the first after a leadoff single and a walk. A groundout moved the runners in scoring position, the Raider defense kept the game scoreless with a fly out.

Schwalm got the Raiders on the board in the bottom of the first after sending the first pitch of her at bat over the fence. This marked the second home run of her career. Bauman followed with a single, delivering her 100th career hit as a Raider.

Zamadics recorded a pair of strikeouts in the top of the second, retiring three straight Marauders.
Â
The Raiders increased their lead in the bottom of the second. Sullivan reached base after a fielder's choice play followed by Sabocsik drawing a walk. Martell drove in a run with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Millersville tied the game in the top of the third inning with a two-run home run from Lexi Pickett – the PSAC home run leader. It was Pickett's 18th of the season.

The SU offense answered with a run in the bottom of the third after back-to-back doubles from Bauman and Haser to make the score 3-2. The Raiders threatened to increase the lead after Cimino drew a walk, but the Marauders worked out of the inning with three straight outs.

In the top of the fourth inning, Zamadics recorded a new season high in strikeouts after delivering her fifth of the game.

SU added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sabocsik led off with a double and moved to third after a fly out. Schwalm drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.

Hayward entered the circle in the top of the fifth and picked up a pair of strikeouts.

Haser started the bottom of the fifth with a double. Cimino drew a walk to put two runners on. Ehrlacher notched a sacrifice fly to put the Raiders up by three, 5-2.

The Marauders got a runner on with after a two-out single, but Hayward ended the inning with a strikeout.

The Raiders scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Martell reached base after a fielder's choice play and Schwalm hit a single to put two Raiders on base. Bauman drew a walk to load the bases.

Haser drove in a pair of runs with a single to make it 7-2. Ehrlacher recorded an RBI single to make it 8-2. Wilmot loaded the bases again by drawing a walk. Sullivan and Sabocsik drew back-to-back walks to end the game via run rule.

Zamadics got the start in the circle for the Raiders, striking out a season-high five batters while allowing three hits and walking one. Hayward pitched the final two innings, recording her third save of the season, striking out four batters, allowing a hit and walking none.

Haser led the offense going 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three RBIs. Schwalm and Bauman each added two hits apiece. Schwalm totaled two RBIs. Six different Raiders recorded at least one hit. Sabocsik reached base four times, hitting a double and drawing three walks.
