SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University junior Gabriel Lewis was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Co-Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.

Lewis broke the all-time PSAC record in the 100 meters at the SU Mid-Week Invitational on Thursday.

Lewis's time of 10.03 seconds was achieved with a legal 1.9 wind reading and is currently the fastest in NCAA Division II this season.

He entered the day already holding Shippensburg's school record (10.31 seconds), but he exceeded that record and then some with his virtuoso performance. His .28-second improvement well surpasses the all-time PSAC record set last season by Slippery Rock's Kanye Thompson, who ran 10.15 seconds.

At the time, Lewis had the No. 2 time in the 100 meters in all divisions of the NCAA. As of Tuesday, the time is currently No. 9 spanning all NCAA Divisions – it leads all of NCAA Division II and is faster than any time in NCAA Division III as well. This weekend, seven D-1 performances were timed at 10.01 seconds or faster (three at the Mt. Sac Relays, four at Florida's Tom Jones Memorial). Penn State's Ajani Dwyer ran 9.96 seconds on March 27 at UCF.

It is the second weekly track award of the outdoor season for Lewis and the fourth of his career.

It is the sixth overall track athlete of the week award for Lewis when including two he earned during the 2026 indoor season.

He shares the award with teammate Ke'Aune Green, who set a new PSAC benchmark in the 200 meters Thursday. It is the first known occurrence that two Shippensburg athletes have shared the award in the same week.
