Kaitlin Calvello won the maroon section of the heptathlon Friday, completing two days of action at the Susquehanna Multi with a new personal-best score of 3,994 points to wrap up competition at Doug Arthur Stadium.
 
Susquehanna's multi meet is divided into two sections based on the amount of competitors: there is the orange section and the maroon section. Calvello topped the maroon section by raising her PR score by 285 points. It was her third career outdoor multi and she finished with new personal bests in four events.  

The performance also ranks her at No. 9 in school history for the event.
 
Calvello got off to a strong start Friday with the top long jump in the field – a leap of 17 feet, 2 ¼ inches (5.24 meters). The long jump is one of her strongest events, and her performance was nine inches farther than anyone else in the field.
 
In her second event, Calvello enhanced her personal best in the javelin to 81 feet.
 
She finished with a fifth-place time in the 800 meters of 2:37.72 – which is just a hundredth of a second off her previous best.
 
Calvello finished ahead of three other multis from Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools. Mansfield's Alyssa Parks placed second with a score of 3,808 points.
 
The full track & field squad will compete Saturday and Sunday at Bucknell.
