SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University senior outfielder
AJ Wenrich was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Baseball Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Wenrich was a one-man wrecking crew at the plate in the Raiders' four-game series sweep over Lincoln (Pa.), totaling eight hits, nine RBI, seven runs scored and 17 total bases in 14 plate appearances.
During Saturday's doubleheader, Wenrich went 5-for-6 with a home run, two doubles, a triple, seven RBIs, two walks and four runs scored. He was a single shy of a cycle in Game 1, going 3-for-3 with three of the extra-base hits and all seven of his RBIs.
The senior outfielder finished the weekend with an .800 batting average, an .857 on base percentage and a 1.700 slugging percentage.
It is the second weekly honor for the Raiders this season and the first of Wenrich's career. Teammate
Evan Shoffler was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week on Feb. 17.
Prior to Wenrich and Shoffler, the last SU player to win Athlete of the Week came nearly three years ago when Austin Baal claimed the honor on May 8, 2023.
