The Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team unleashed the majority of its squad for the first time Saturday as the Raiders completed the weekend at Lynchburg's Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational.

SU compiled 18 performances on Saturday that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifiers in their respective events.

Ashley Laukus was one of two Raiders to win an event – she had the top clearance in the high jump by getting over the bar at 5 feet, 4 ¼ inches (1.63 meters).

Alyssa Wert won the 400 meters in 56.59 seconds – and that performance was one of three on the day that enhanced a Raider's position on their respective all-time Top 10 lists in school history. Wert enhanced her No. 9 all-time ranking in the 400 with her new PR.

Also on the track, Izzy Slezak made her collegiate outdoor debut in the 200 meters with a third-place time of 25.30 seconds that ties her for ninth in school history.

In the final event of the day to be completed, Riyah Whigham landed a new personal best in the triple jump of 38 feet, 8 ¾ inches (11.80 meters) that enhances her No. 7 all-time mark among Raiders.

Emily Calamia ran third in the 400 meters with a strong time of 57.63 seconds. Mary Stoltz and Ava Whysong achieved PSAC cuts in the 800 meters – they finished fifth and sixth respectively. Stoltz ran 2:19.54 while Whysong continued her excellent performance over the last two months by crossing the line in 2:20.13.

The hurdles provided several positives. Madison Malcolm finished second in both hurdle events, completing the 100 in 15.33 seconds and the 400 in 1:04.29. Linda Hussein was one place behind Malcolm in the 100-meter hurdles with a PSAC qualifier of 15.43 seconds.

Melanie Barger and Camryn Pyle ran 4-6 in the 400-meter hurdles with conference cuts. Barger ran 1:04.87 while Pyle finished in 1:05.36.

To finish the day on the track, Calamia, Barger, Malcolm and Wert completed their first 4x400-meter relay of the season. Their victorious time was 3:55.79.

Makayla Decker and Kyra Love helped pace the Raider throwers. Decker was SU's top performer in the discus with a third-place throw of 134 feet, 9 inches (41.07 meters) while Love also notched a conference qualifier thanks to her team-best shot put of 39 feet, 6 ¾ inches (12.06 meters).

Anne Gardner achieved her PSAC qualifier in the triple jump with a seventh-place jump of 36 feet, 9 inches (11.20 meters).

Shippensburg will return to Virginia next weekend for the two-day Dalton Ebanks Invitational hosted by George Mason.
