Shaela Kruskie and
Victoria Bartholomew put forth excellent efforts in the 10K Friday night to wrap up the first of two days of competition for the Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team at Lynchburg's Dr. Jack M. Toms Alumni Invitational.
Both performances were Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifiers – but Kruskie's was especially noteworthy. She used a strong kick to win the race in a new personal-best time of 36:26.16 that ranks her No. 8 all-time in school history in the 10K.
It was just the third career 10K for Kruskie – who enhanced her previous best by an incredible three minutes and 14 seconds.
Bartholomew also recorded a new PR, upping her personal best in the 10K by more than 26 seconds with a fifth-place time of 38:27.63.
The limited action on the track Friday was confined to distance events.
Anna Schaeffer and
Kira Logiovine ran 5:03.62 and 5:05.46 respectively in the 1,500 meters, while
Caleigh Vincent completed the 5K in 18:55.06.
Hannah Cassner paced three Raiders in the javelin throw with a fifth-place mark of 125 feet that resulted in a PSAC qualifier.
Also among field competition, the hammer throw had begun but was not completed due to a weather delay.
The meet continues at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
