SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team dropped its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division doubleheader against Bloomsburg on Saturday. The Raiders lost Game 1, 3-1, and Game 2, 11-6, at Robb Field.

Shippensburg (12-6, 2-2 PSAC East) recorded 15 hits on the day, plating seven runs. Bloomsburg (12-3, 3-0 PSAC East) ended the day with 22 hits and 14 runs. Both teams combined for 37 hits on the day, with 25 of those coming from Game 2.

Four different Raiders recorded three hits on the day.

Sarah Sabocsik was 3-for-5, with three hits in Game 2. She recorded a home run, triple and single to total three RBIs.

Rilee Ehrlacher and
Brie Wilmot  each went 3-for-7. Ehrlacher hit a double and two singles. Wilmot added three singles, totaling one RBI.
Emilee Sullivan went 3-for-6, recording an RBI in each game.
Shippensburg returns to action on Tuesday with a road doubleheader against Shepherd at 1 p.m.Â

Game 1: BLOOMSBURG 3, SHIP 1
Â
Caitlyn Martell opened the game with a leadoff double followed by a one-out walk from Schwalm to put two Raiders on base, Sarah Yamrick struck out two batters, and the Husky defense ended the inning with a ground out to keep the score at 0-0.

The Huskies got on the board first in the top of second with a single that scored two runs. Neither team had a baserunner in the third inning.

Bloomsburg added its third run in the top of the fourth following a ground-rule double and a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

The lone SU run came in the bottom of the seventh. Ehrlacher led off with a double that was followed by an RBI single from Sullivan to cut the deficit to two. A strikeout and a double play from Bloomsburg ended the game.

Five different Raiders recorded a hit in game one.

Dani Hayward pitched a seven-inning complete game for the Raiders, throwing 101 pitches. Hayward struck out five batters and scattered seven hits.

Game 2: BLOOMSBURG 11, SHIP 6
Â
Bloomsburg kept the momentum in Game 2, scoring five runs in the first inning. The Huskies opened the game with three singles, before Allie Wenrich drew a walk to score the first run of the game. The Raiders got an out at home to prevent another run from scoring, but a double from Reagan Wiest cleared the bases to make it 4-0. After a pitching change, Bloomsburg scored its final run of the inning from an RBI single.

The Raiders found an answer in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs. Martell hit her second leadoff double of the day.
Leah Schwalm took advantage of a Husky error to score Martell and make it 5-1.
Reagan Bauman reached on a fielder's choice before
Brie Wilmot added an RBI single. Sabocsik added an RBI single to cut the deficit to two, 5-3.

The Huskies came close to scoring in the top of the second after back-to-back singles.
Madalyn Dyer delivered a strikeout before walking a batter. With the bases loaded, the Raider defense got a ground out to keep the score 5-3. The next nine batters for both teams did not reach base.

Bloomsburg saw its biggest lead of the day come in the top of the fourth. Sarah Yamrick opened with a double followed by an RBI single to make it 6-3.
Mya Parkinson then entered the circle for the Raiders. The Huskies loaded the bases after a single from Wenrich. A wild pitch increased the lead to 7-3. Bloomsburg delivered three hits scoring four runs to make it 11-3.

Kaira Zamadics entered the circle for the first time this season. Zamadics recorded three outs to end the inning.

Ehrlacher started the bottom of the fourth with a single. Sabocsik launched her third home run of the season to cut the deficit to six runs. Sullivan followed with a double and
Lindsey Haser drew a walk, but the Raiders were unable to score any more runs.

SU added a run after a triple from Sabocsik and an RBI single from Sullivan in the bottom of the sixth.

After opening the top of the seventh with a walk, Zamadics struck out the final two Husky batters to keep the score 11-6. Zamadics finished her outing by throwing four hitless innings of relief.

Wilmot recorded a single in the bottom of the seventh, but the Bloomsburg defense ended the game at 11-6.

The Raiders had four different pitchers enter the circle in Game 2.
Mikayla Fontana got the loss in the circle, giving up four hits in the first inning. Dyer pitched 2.1 innings, striking out two batters and scattering seven hits.

Sabocsik went 3-for-3, with a home run, triple and a single, totaling three RBIs. Wilmot, Ehrlacher and Sullivan added two hits apiece. Wilmot and Sullivan each recorded an RBI.
