SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University Assistant Director of Sports Medicine Tanya Miller '97 has been named a 2026 inductee for the Pennsylvania Athletic Training Hall of Fame.

Miller will be honored during an induction ceremony on June 5.

"This is such an incredible honor," Miller said. "I am humbled to have been chosen to join the ranks of such tremendous pioneers and visionaries of our profession. I want to thank all my colleagues and leaders in PATS (Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society) that have shown me the gratitude, camaraderie, and fulfillment that comes from volunteering. Our society highlights the best of what 'giving back' means and I am grateful to be a small part of that."

According to the Pennsylvania Athletic Training Hall of Fame, Miller's selection is the result of her extensive and impactful contributions to the profession in the Commonwealth.

Among those contributions are championing the legislative and licensing efforts of athletic trainers as Chair of the PATS Governmental Affairs Committee, a role she has held since 2011. She has also served on the PATS Executive Board.

Additionally, Miller has been involved in national and state governmental affairs work, aided the medical teams for NCAA Division II national, regional, and state events, and authored and presented clinically relevant publications on emergency action planning and guidelines for sports participation in hot and cold weather.

Miller has garnered numerous awards and recognition related to her field in recent years. Last summer, she was the recipient of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Athletic Trainer Service Award at the annual NATA Convention, and was also the winner of the 2024 Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS) Distinguished Merit Award.
