RESULTS

The Shippensburg University women's indoor track & field team finished in fifth place at the 2026 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships, compiling 12 individual place-winners and an all-conference relay by the completion of the competition Sunday that took place at Lehigh University's Rauch Fieldhouse.

Shippensburg scored 71.5 points, coming within 1.5 points of fourth-place California (Pa.). The Vulcans won the 4x400-meter relay to sneak ahead of the Raiders in the standings.

Slippery Rock won its ninth indoor championship with 98.5 points, matching Shippensburg for the most in league history. East Stroudsburg (88 points) claimed the red trophy while Bloomsburg (85) finished third.

Event Breakdown

60 (prelims Saturday)
15. Izzy Slezak 8.08

200 (finals Sunday, prelims Saturday)
4. Emily Calamia 25.77 (25.38 w/conversion) / (25.76q) (25.37 w/conversion)
13. Izzy Slezak 26.18 (25.78 w/conversion)

Emily Calamia, making her PSAC Indoor Championships debut in the 200, reached the final thanks to a solid prelim of 25.76 seconds. She was only one one-hundredth of a second off that pace Sunday, posting a fourth-place time of 25.77 seconds (25.38 seconds with the flat-track conversion). Her PR will remain 25.62 (25.23) seconds, a performance set last week at the Bucknell Tune-Up that ranks her No. 4 all-time in school history.

400 (finals Sunday, prelims Saturday)
3. Alyssa Wert 58.17 (57.41 w/conversion) (No. 8 all-time at SU) / (59.53q) (58.75 w/conversion)
4. Emily Calamia 58.60 (57.84 w/conversion) (T-No. 10 all-time at SU) / (58.75q) (57.98 w/conversion)

Alyssa Wert came through with a clutch performance in the 400, pacing the Raiders with a PR of 58.17 seconds (57.41 seconds with conversion) that improves her No. 8 all-time ranking in school history for the event. Wert improved by six-tenths of a second from her effort in prelims.

It is Wert's first career All-PSAC finish in the indoor 400 and her third career scoring effort in the event; she was fourth last year and eighth as a sophomore. It was her fourth and final time competing in the event at the conference meet.

Calamia also achieved a PR with her finals run, crossing the finish line in 58.60 seconds. That converts to a time of 57.84 seconds – and the performance ties her with Shannon Hare for the No. 10 spot all-time in the school rankings for the indoor 400. It was an improvement of .15 seconds from her prelim time.

It is Calamia's second career scoring effort in the indoor 400 – she placed sixth last season in her PSAC indoor debut meet.

800
13. Mary Stoltz 2:23.25 (2:21.62 w/conversion)
17. Ava Whysong 2:24.92 (2:23.27 w/conversion) (collegiate best)

Mary Stoltz and Ava Whysong were making their PSAC indoor debuts in the event; Whysong improved her collegiate best by two-tenths of a second with her performance.

Mile

3K
2. Shaela Kruskie 10:06.28 (10:01.13 w/conversion) (No. 9 all-time at SU)
8. Mya Trotty 10:24.12 (10:18.82 w/conversion)

Kruskie made a strong bid for her second league title in as many days but could not stave off the late kick of Bloomsburg junior Alexis Tepper, who earned PSAC Indoor Championships Overall MVP and Most Valuable Track Athlete honors for her weekend that included victories in the mile, 3K and DMR and a second-place finish in the 800.

The two runners were stride for stride the entire race until the final 200 meters; both turned on the afterburners but Tepper ran 10:04.50 while Kruskie finished just 1.7 seconds behind.

The run still marked another improvement to Kruskie's PR that has her ranked No. 9 all-time in the event in school history and caps a phenomenal indoor season for the Raider sophomore.

Kruskie's second-place finish is the best by a Raider in the women's indoor 3K in 13 years, dating back to Katie Spratford winning the event in 2013. It was SU's first scoring effort in the event since Isabelle Gulgert's seventh-place finish in 2023.

Mya Trotty made her conference debut as well and battled to an eighth-place finish in 10:24.12 (10:18.82 with flat-track conversion). The new personal best was enough for Trotty to hold off Slippery Rock senior Ruthie Hughes by seven-tenths of a second to get the Raiders a team point.

It is the first time that the Raiders have had multiple scorers in the 3K since Natalee Serwatka (third place) and Bella Marchini (sixth place) in 2019.

5K (contested Saturday)
1. Shaela Kruskie 17:16.21 (17:08.34 w/conversion) (No. 5 all-time at SU)
10. Victoria Bartholomew 18:21.34 (18:12.97 w/conversion) (collegiate best)

Kruskie made a resounding statement Saturday in her first-ever PSAC Indoor Championships race by lapping the field with a victorious time of 17:16.21 that was 31 seconds faster than any other competitor. It was the largest margin of victory in the PSAC women's indoor 5K since Edinboro's Rachel Lanzel set the meet record in 2009 (16:44) with a 41-second win over her teammate Tina Yi that marked her fourth and final league 5K title.

The performance translates to a time of 17:08.34 when given the conversion from a flat track to a banked/oversized track and puts Kruskie in the No. 5 spot all-time among Raiders in the event.

She becomes the fourth Raider to win a PSAC women's indoor 5K title, joining Casey Norton (2017), Neely Spence (2010) and Kelly Stewart (2004).

It also marks the first time since 2019 that any Raider delivered a place-winning performance in the event. That year, Natalee Serwatka ran third and Jackie Kinkead finished fifth.

Kruskie becomes the first Raider to earn a Top 2 finish in both the 3K and the 5K in the same season since Neely Spence won both events in 2010. She and Serwatka (in 2019) are the only Raiders since Spence to post All-PSAC finishes in both events in the same season.

Victoria Bartholomew, also making her PSAC indoor debut in the event, delivered a new collegiate best of 18:21.34 (18:12.97) that resulted in a Top 10 finish.

60H (finals Sunday, prelims Saturday)
5. Madison Malcolm 8.98 (8.90q) (T-5th all-time at SU)
9. Layla Duggan 9.07 (collegiate best)
10. Linda Hussein 9.08 (collegiate best)
20. Camryn Pyle 9.39

Madison Malcolm had one of SU's top highlights of prelims with her new personal best of 8.90 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles that ties her with Ryleigh Marks for the No. 5 spot all-time in school history. Malcolm broke the nine-second mark again during finals; her time of 8.98 seconds resulted in fifth place.

Running at PSACs in the event for the third time, Malcolm achieved a place-winning performance for the second straight season. She was third last year and 10th in 2024.

Layla Duggan and Linda Hussein concluded their first indoor season with new PRs that were very close to finals qualifications. Duggan improved her collegiate best to 9.07 seconds while Hussein ran 9.08 seconds – resulting in ninth and 10th place respectively.

4x400-Meter Relay
3. Emily Calamia, Melanie Barger, Madison Malcolm, Alyssa Wert 3:57.21

The Raider quartet went toe-to-toe with Seton Hill in the final heat and only finished .32 seconds behind the league-champion Griffins. Calamia's opening leg was timed at 59.29 seconds, while Barger's split was registered at 60.08 and Malcolm's at 60.31. Wert closed with a solid split of 57.55 seconds.

It is the seventh consecutive year that the SU women's 4x400-meter relay has earned an All-PSAC (Top 3) finish. Overall, SU has had an All-PSAC 4x4 relay in 17 of the 24 championships contested in league history.

Shippensburg held a half-point lead over California (Pa.) for fourth place entering the 4x4 relay. The Vulcans, who ran in the heat before the Raiders, edged SU by .03 seconds (3:57.18 to 3:57.21) for the standings bump. Loreena Manser, who won the 60 and the 200 earlier in the day, delivered the fastest anchor leg of the field (56.71 seconds).

Distance Medley Relay (contested Saturday)
9. Grace Nesko, Melanie Barger, Ava Whysong, Anna Schaeffer 12:48.54

High Jump
4. Ashley Laukus 5' 6 ½" (1.69m)
12. Elliot Oliphant 5' 0 ½" (1.54m)
Allyson Richwine NH

SU got off to a tough start on the day but Ashley Laukus (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) delivered a strong effort in a field that included five of the Top 21 nationally-ranked high jumpers in NCAA Division II.

Laukus only had one miss at the first four heights, and she got over the bar at 5 feet, 6 ½ inches (1.69 meters) on her first attempt. She remains one of only three women in school history to clear that height or better.

Her personal best remains the school record – 5 feet, 8 inches (1.73 meters) – set earlier this season. The Top 3 finishers all were able to clear the next height, 5 feet, 8 ½ inches (1.74 meters).

Laukus is now a two-time scorer in the event; she was third last season and 10th in 2024.

Pole Vault (contested Saturday)
T3. Carissa Bender 11' 5 ¾" (3.50m)

Carissa Bender continues to deliver consistently solid results at the indoor conference meet, as she posted the highest of now three scoring performances in the pole vault.

Bender cleared the pole vault bar at 11 feet, 5 ¾ inches (3.50 meters) to tie for third place on Saturday. That performance accompanies a tie for fourth place last season and a tie for seventh place in 2024.

She exceeded her seed by three places, clearing each of the first two heights on her first attempt. The bar made a big six-inch jump with each new progression, and Bender was unable to clear the ensuing height of 11 feet, 11 ¾ inches (3.65 meters).

Her indoor best remains 11 feet, 7 ¼ inches (3.54 meters).

Long Jump (contested Saturday)
10. Riyah Whigham 17' 4" (5.28m)
11. Ellie Manyara 17' 3 ½" (5.27m)

Triple Jump
5. Riyah Whigham 38' 3 ½" (11.67m) (No. 6 all-time at SU)
10. Anne Gardner 36' 0 ¼" (10.98m)
17. Ellie Manyara 34' 6 ½" (10.52m)
18. Layla Duggan 33' 6" (10.21m)

The triple jump competition was once again strong this season, as Riyah Whigham achieved a new personal best in the event but ended up with fifth place for the second consecutive season.

Whigham's best leap was 38 feet, 3 ½ inches (11.67 meters), which improves her No. 6 spot in school history for the event. She achieved that mark on her second jump of finals (fifth overall attempt). Her mark of 37 feet, 1 ¾ inches (11.32 meters) in qualifying got her the spot in the finals and the opportunity for three more jumps.

Whigham settled for fifth due to a tiebreaker; Slippery Rock's Baylee Blauser also had a top mark of 38 feet, 3 ½ inches but her second-best mark was better – 37 feet, 4 ½ inches (11.39 meters).

12. Caroline Mercer 38' 7 ½" (11.77m)
13. Kyra Love 38' 1 ¼" (11.61m)
17. Makayla Decker 36' 10 ¼" (11.23m)

Of the three Raiders who competed in the shot put, Kyra Love recorded a new collegiate best of 38 feet, 1 ¼ inches to place 13th.

Weight (contested Saturday)
2. Lauren Bellows 50' 9 ¼" (15.47m)

Lauren Bellows had her best finish to date in the weight throw, capping off a strong senior season with a second-place toss of 50 feet, 9 ¼ inches (15.47 meters).

Bellows becomes the first Raider to earn All-PSAC honors in the weight throw since 2018, when Kate Shirk was the runner-up to Sunflower Greene.

She becomes just the seventh Raider in school history to earn All-PSAC honors in the weight, accompanying Shirk, Tamara Ovejera, Liz Ross, Sarah Brotzman, Steph Harrison and Megan Schweighofer.

It is Bellows' second straight scoring performance in the weight throw – she finished fourth last year (and was 11th in 2024).

Bellows' PR was achieved this season – 51 feet, 11 inches (15.82 meters) – a mark which ranks No. 9 all-time in school history.

Pentathlon (contested Saturday)
5. Kaitlin Calvello 3193 (3,214 w/conversion) (No. 6 all-time at SU)

Kaitlin Calvello delivered a huge personal best in the pentathlon, placing fifth with a score of 3,193 points. That total is upped to 3,214 points when the 800-meter run gets the flat-to-banked/oversized conversion and slots Calvello No. 6 all-time in school history.

Calvello made it count. Her shot put (35 feet, 1 ¼ inches (10.70 meters) and her 800-meter run (2:34.15) were new lifetime bests, while her second-place long jump of 17 feet, 6 ¾ inches (5.35 meters) was less than two inches off her PR. Her 60-meter hurdle time of 9.84 seconds to get things started was just .05 seconds off her best.
