Shippensburg University junior Gabriel Lewis was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.

Lewis, who broke SU's 60-meter record in the season opener back in December by running 6.67 seconds at Bucknell, improved upon that performance Saturday at Penn State's Sykes & Sabock Challenge by winning the finals in 6.66 seconds.

In Saturday's finals he went toe-to-toe with fellow PSAC sprint great Michael Fellin of Kutztown and defeated him by .09 seconds. The three fastest 60-meter dashes of the season thus far in the PSAC were recorded in the race, with Raider teammate Ni'male Greenwood (6.79 seconds) finishing third behind Lewis and Fellin.

Lewis currently ranks seventh in the nation on the NCAA Division II performance list.

It is the second straight week that a Raider has earned the PSAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award (Tommy Crum Jr. was honored last Monday for his mile at Penn) and the third time overall that a Raider won the award this season (Lewis was the inaugural recipient on Dec. 8 after running 6.67 seconds at the Bison Opener).
