RECAP: Women’s Basketball drops finale at Lock Haven; Eyer scores career-high 31 points

Eyer’s 31 points are the most by a Raider since the 2023-24 season finale

Freshman Melana Eyer scored a career-high 31 points on Saturday, the most by a Raider in a game this season, but it was not enough as the Shippensburg University women's basketball team dropped its finale to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division leaders Lock Haven, 76-60, in action at Nelson Field House.

Shippensburg (3-25, 2-19 PSAC) led 17-12 after one quarter and held a 10-point lead with 8:14 left in the first half but could not stave off Lock Haven (21-5, 18-3), which out-rebounded the Raiders by a 43-24 margin. The Bald Eagles also benefited from 27 trips to the free-throw line, making 19 attempts (70 percent).

Eyer soared past her previous career high of 22 points set back in November against Bowie State and eclipsed the 20-point mark for just the third time in her career. She also exceeded the SU season high of 27 points by Michelle Olak against Slippery Rock on Dec. 20.

It is the first 30-point performance by a Raider since Treasure George's final game, when she delivered a career-high 35 points on Feb. 28, 2024 against Shepherd.

Eyer's output included 10-of-19 from the field, a pair of three-pointers, and a career-best 9-of-10 effort at the free-throw line. She also recorded a career-high four steals to go along with four rebounds and three assists.

McKenzie Thomas scored 12 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and adding a pair of assists. It was Thomas's seventh game in double figures this season.

Playing in the 114th and final game of her collegiate career, Makayla Foddrell delivered two points, three rebounds and two blocks. Foddrell finishes with 385 career points and 405 career rebounds.

Lock Haven's Jenadia Jordan and Rhlyn Rouse produced double-doubles with identical tallies of 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jordan added seven assists.

SU committed 15 turnovers, one shy of matching its season low, and scored 22 points off 19 Bald Eagle turnovers.
