Izzy Slezak,
Emily Calamia and
Elliot Oliphant were among the members of the Shippensburg University women's indoor track & field team who delivered noteworthy personal bests Friday night as the Raiders wrapped up the regular season at Bucknell's Bison Tune-Up.
In a dynamite 200-meter dash, Slezak won the event in 25.43 seconds and Calamia took second place in 25.62 seconds. The performances, when converted from a flat track to a banked/oversized track, translate to 25.04 and 25.23 seconds respectively.
Slezak moved up one spot from No. 4 to No. 3 on the all-time Raider Top 10 list in the event, while Calamia's significant personal best not only gave her a fresh spot on the Top 10 but it puts her right behind Slezak at No. 4.
Oliphant cleared 5 feet, 5 inches (1.65 meters) for the first time indoors; her previous indoor best was 5 feet, 3 ¼ inches (1.61 meters) set last season at Alvernia. Her new PR puts her into a four-way tie into ninth place in school history for the event and also makes her one of just nine women in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) this season (along with teammates
Ashley Laukus and
Allyson Richwine) to clear at least 5 feet, 5 inches this season.
Madison Malcolm won the 60-meter hurdles; she delivered duplicate times of 9.08 seconds in both prelims and the finals.
Layla Duggan finished third in 9.23 seconds but matched her PR during prelims by running 9.20 seconds.
A couple of Raiders earned brand new PSAC qualifiers Friday night, affording them the chance to compete again next week at the conference championships.
Melanie Barger completed the 400 meters in a fourth-place time of 1:00.47 for her season best, while
Ava Whysong delivered a PR in the 800 meters of 2:25.12.
Ellie Manyara had the best jumping night of her career. She delivered a huge PR in the long jump of 17 feet, 8 ¼ inches (5.39 meters), a second-place finish, that earned her a PSAC qualifier in the event. It was more than a foot better than her previous all-time best. Manyara also paced the Raiders in the triple jump with a PR of 35 feet, 6 ¾ inches (10.84 meters) that resulted in a fifth-place finish.
The 2026 PSAC Championships take place Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, March 1 at Lehigh.
