SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University sophomore shortstop
Evan Shoffler has been recognized as the Hitter of the Week in the Atlantic Region by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Wednesday.
Â
Shoffler posted a .546 batting average and a .642 on base percentage from the leadoff spot in the Raiders' three game series sweep of St. Michaels this past weekend.
Â
Shoffler went 6-for-11 at the plate, totaling seven runs scored, five RBIs, three steals and three walks.
Â
Shoffler had multi-hit efforts in all three games. He was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, and followed that up with a three-run, three-RBI effort in the nightcap – an outing that included his first two collegiate home runs.
Â
It is the second honor this week for Shoffler, who has already garnered Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Baseball Athlete of the Week.
Â
It is the first time Shoffler has ever won either award. He is the first SU player to be tabbed NCBWA Atlantic Region Hitter of the Week since Austin Baal on May 9, 2023.
