SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University sophomore shortstop
Evan Shoffler was named the inaugural Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Baseball Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
Â
Shoffler, making his debut at the top of the SU lineup, posted a .546 batting average and a .642 on base percentage in the Raiders' three game series sweep of St. Michaels this past weekend.
Â
The SU shortstop went 6-for-11 at the plate, totaling seven runs scored, five RBIs, three steals and three walks.
Â
Shoffler had multi-hit efforts in all three games. He was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader, and followed that up with a three-run, three-RBI effort in the nightcap – an outing that included his first two collegiate home runs.
Â
It is the first weekly honor of Shoffler's career. He is the first SU player to win conference recognition since
Jack Robinson won back-to-back PSAC East Pitcher of the Week honors on Apr. 28 and May 5 of last season, and the first SU player to win Athlete of the Week since Austin Baal on May 8, 2023.
