SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University redshirt-sophomore Tommy Crum Jr. was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Indoor Track Co-Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.

Crum Jr. broke the all-time PSAC indoor record in the mile by nearly two full seconds Saturday in a remarkable performance at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.

His time of 4:04.09 is a new lifetime PR by 3.6 seconds – it resulted in a second-place finish in the invitational section of the race. It is an improvement of 1.6-seconds upon the previous PSAC record (4:05.72) held by Slippery Rock's Ryan Thompson since 2017. The previous SU mile record of Bryan Beegle (4:06.70) had been on the books for 14 years.

Crum Jr. shares the league's weekly indoor track award with Seton Hill's Jacy Willis, who broke the all-time PSAC record in the 400 meters at Grand Valley State on Friday with a time of 47.09 seconds that ranks 12th in the country.

It is the third straight week and the fourth time overall this season that a Raider has earned the PSAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award. Gabriel Lewis was honored last Monday and also on Dec. 8 for his spectacular sprints in the 60-meter dash. Crum Jr. was also honored two weeks ago for his previous effort in the mile at Penn.

Overall, it is the fourth weekly award of Crum's career; in addition to his two in indoor track & field he has previously earned two PSAC weekly awards in cross country (Oct. 1, 2024 and Sept. 30, 2025).

Shippensburg completes its regular season Friday night with a tune-up meet at Bucknell.
