The Shippensburg University women's basketball team fell to East Stroudsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division showdown Saturday afternoon at ESU's Koehler Fieldhouse, 68-58.
Shippensburg (3-22, 2-16 PSAC) got off to a quick start in the first quarter and led East Stroudsburg (16-9, 11-7) by five points, 46-41, with 1:28 left in the third quarter only to be outscored 21-12 in the final frame.

Makayla Foddrell, who finished with her first ever double-double after she poured in a career-high 14 points and collected 10 rebounds. Foddrell shot 7-of-8 from the field (87.5 percent) and added a blocked shot.
Michelle Olak (Montreal, Canada/Westtown School (Pa.)) neared a double-double as well, totaling 13 points and nine boards.
The Raiders scored the first nine points and did not allow a field goal until the Warriors got on the board with 3:05 left in the opening quarter. The Warriors then answered with an 8-0 spurt to take the lead.
Melana Eyer halted the ESU run with a three-point play to keep the Raiders in front after 10 minutes, 14-12.
SU's defense held East Stroudsburg to 25.0 percent (4-16) from the field in the first quarter, while the Raiders shot 4-of-7 (57.1 percent) and a perfect 4-of-4 from the foul line.
The Warriors regained the lead after eight straight second quarter points, 28-22. Foddrell later delivered back-to-back layups to end the first half within six, 28-22.
The Raider offense came out quickly following the break, scoring the first four points of the second half to tie the score, 30-30. Olak drained a three to give the Raiders a five-point cushion, 44-41, at the 2:44 mark of the third before East Stroudsburg ended the quarter with a 4-0 run to retake the lead, 47-46.
SU outscored ESU 22-17 in the third and shot 8-of-11 (72.7 percent) while the Warriors shot 8-of-13 (61.5 percent).
East Stroudsburg began the fourth quarter with a three-pointer and kept the momentum by completing a 9-0 run, 59-50. The Warriors increased their lead to 12 with 1:35 remaining, the largest lead for either team, 66-54.
Abbie Johns made a layup to cut the deficit to eight with eight seconds remaining in regulation. The Warriors scored their final points from the foul line, 68-58.
East Stroudsburg's Avery White paced the Warriors with 23 points while Brie Droege added 18.
Johns finished with 11 points. Eyer was the third Raider to reach double figures, netting 13 points to go along with four assists. Johns and Eyer both recorded three steals defensively.
Shippensburg converted 10-of-10 of their total free throw attempts (100 percent), a new season best. East Stroudsburg was 12-of-16 from the stripe (75.0 percent).
SU committed a season-high 30 turnovers in the contest.
Shippensburg will return to Heiges Field House on Saturday for a PSAC matchup against Mansfield. Before the game, the team will honor Foddrell, the team's lone senior, as part of Senior Day.
