The Shippensburg University women's indoor track & field team received a pair of strong mid-distance/distance efforts Friday to kickstart the weekend at Liberty University's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
Shaela Kruskie delivered her second personal best of the season with a marvelous 3K of 10:02.39 that placed her second in the open section of the event. Kruskie cracked the all-time Top 10 rankings for the event in school history, earning the No. 9 spot, with a performance that was a 16-second improvement on her unconverted PR time set at Bucknell.
Mary Stoltz improved her season best and collegiate PR in the 800 meters to 2:18.68, posting a time that was the eighth-fastest in the open section of the race. Stoltz improved by four-tenths of a second from her run last week at Penn State.
Among the noteworthy field efforts included
Riyah Whigham landing a season best in the long jump of 17 feet, 11 ½ inches (5.47 meters) and
Carissa Bender clearing 11 feet, 5 ¾ inches (3.50 meters) in the pole vault.
Action resumes at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
