SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team was unable to hold its early momentum in a frustrating draw against Lackawanna Saturday at David See Field, 1-1.
Shippensburg (2-5-5) ended a three-match goal drought with a
Kyle Ganley header in the tenth minute but was unable to add on against a Lackawanna (1-7-4) side that played better than its record.
The Falcon attack put SU on its heels for long stretches of the tie despite scoring just four goals heading into play Saturday. Their pressure led to a 42nd minute corner kick that resulted in an equalizing goal courtesy of defender Malik Salawu.
Shippensburg's go-ahead tally also came on a set play, with
Ethan Omondi's corner kick finding Ganley for a header at the back post.
Will Clugh, a Shippensburg native, delivered the assist on the Lackawanna goal.
The Falcons would end up out-shooting the Raiders 13-to-11 overall, in addition to a 6-to-4 edge in shots on target.
SU goalkeeper
Ryan Krumenacker recorded five saves.
The Raiders totaled eight corner kicks to Lackawanna's three, including seven in the second half.
Shippensburg travels to West Chester next Saturday for a noon start.
