The Shippensburg University women's basketball team lost at No. 5 Gannon on Friday, 62-30, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover at the Highmark Events Center in Erie.
Shippensburg (1-10, 0-4 PSAC) returned to the court for its first game in 12 days. The Raiders took an early 4-0 lead after
Abbie Johns made a jumper high off the glass at the 8:24 mark of the first quarter.
Gannon (13-1, 5-0) held the Raiders scoreless for the remainder of the first quarter, leading 18-4 after 10 minutes and 33-10 at halftime. Golden Knight center Mia Slater led all scorers with 13 points.
Johns finished with a team-high 12 points, marking her sixth time in double figures this season. She delivered six points in each half.
Michelle Olak scored seven points; she was 3-of-4 at the free-throw line.
Melana Eyer was limited to just three points on the scoresheet but recorded a career-high nine rebounds to pace the Raiders in the category. Eyer also had six of SU's eight assists, a total that is just one off her career high.
Shippensburg is back in action at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Clarion.
