RECAP: No. 4 Field Hockey opens season with 7-0 shutout of Belmont Abbey

Caracotche Picone scores first goals of collegiate career

Box Score The No. 4-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team began its 2025 season with a convincing 7-0 shutout of Belmont Abbey on Saturday in a neutral-site game played at IUP.
 
Shippensburg opened the scoring just over four minutes in and produced at least one goal in all four frames. SU led 3-0 at the half and 4-0 after three quarters.
 
Carme Caracotche Picone scored twice – including the opening strike – for the first collegiate goals of her career.
 
Mckenna Boyle and Agus Garibaldi each had a goal and two assists. Sierra Crews found the back of the net in her collegiate debut.
 
Raider defenders were also getting in on the scoring action, as Emily Bitters caged her second career goal while Kayla Snyder scored her first collegiate goal to round out the scoring with 2:17 left.
 
Emma Albee got the win in goal.
 
Shippensburg returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday when it travels to No. 7 West Chester for a matchup with the Golden Rams.
