SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University sophomore linebacker Alex Sauve was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday morning by the league office.
 
Sauve had eight tackles, including 1.0 TFLs, a half-sack, and an interception in SU's 10-7 win over Bloomsburg Saturday. He had SU's second interception, and then provided a quarterback hurry on SU's third and final interception with 2:00 remaining in the contest which helped to seal the victory.
 
The Raider defense allowed only one pass play of 15 or more yards and only one rush of 10 yards Saturday.
 
It is the first conference Athlete of the Week recognition for Sauve and the first weekly honor for the Raiders this season. He is the first Raider to win Defensive Athlete of the Week since Mike Brewer on Nov. 13, 2023.
