NEWVILLE, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's cross country team completed the Dickinson "Short" Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a third-place finish in action on a muggy day at Big Spring High School.
The Raiders made a strong push in the second half of the race and ended up with five runners in the Top 20 and eight runners in the Top 30.
Mya Trotty delivered her first turn as Shippensburg's No. 1 runner with a 12th-place time of 15:13.6.
Victoria Bartholomew was exactly five seconds behind and finished 15th. Trotty was in 25th place at the mile marker and gained approximately 13 spots over the final 2,500 meters.
Livi Rieck crossed the finish line in 17th place with a time of 15:24.1, while
Kira Logiovine slotted just two spots after running 15:26.0.
Logiovine was the first of three consecutive Raiders to finish, as
Anna Schaeffer delivered a 20th-place run of 15:28.7, and
Caleigh Vincent placed 21st in 15:30.2. Two spots behind Vincent was
Brooke Miller, who delivered a time of 15:33.0.
Due to host Dickinson conducting four races on the day of various lengths (men's and women's 4Ks for a "Short" Invitational and a men's 8K and a women's 6K for a "Long" Invitational), and several schools having competitors split between the two distances, only the Top 3 runners per team counted toward team scores.
Shippensburg is right back in action Friday when it heads north to compete in the prestigious Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh.
