The Shippensburg University men's swimming team won 10-of-13 events Wednesday night as it posted a victory in its season-opening dual meet, defeating host Kutztown by a 161-97 score in competition at Keystone Natatorium.
 
Of Shippensburg's 10 victories, six of the events were won by a Raider making their team debut.
 
Josh Wall, a graduate transfer from Lees-McRae, was 3-for-3 on the night. Wall won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.60, the 100-yard freestyle in 48.09 seconds and the 200-yard individual medley (IM) in 2:01.30.
 
His times in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle were two of the team's five performances on the night that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifying standards.
 
First-year swimmers Mason Hockenberry and Joe Herman combined for three event victories. Hockenberry touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.04 seconds) and the 50-yard butterfly (24.14 seconds) while Herman claimed gold in the 50-yard backstroke (25.84 seconds).
 
Sophomore Kiran George won the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 27.69 seconds; junior Mason Koeth had the fastest time in the 100-yard backstroke (55.65 seconds).
 
Wall and Koeth went 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle; Koeth's second-place time of 1:48.07 was a PSAC cut. Juniors Robbie Ferlick and Connor Ludwig went 2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle with respective PSAC cuts of 21.44 seconds and 22.46 seconds.
 
SU won each of the bookend relays. Koeth, Wall, Josh Einolf and Ferlick opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:37.02), while Koeth, Ferlick, Ludwig and Kevin Noldy teamed up for a victorious 200-yard freestyle relay (1:28.76).
 
Other runners-up on the night included Kye Winslow in the 50-yard backstroke, Einolf in the 50 and 100-yard breaststroke, Herman in the 50-yard butterfly and Alex Kissinger in the 100-yard butterfly.
 
Shippensburg returns to action in 10 days with a dual meet at Bloomsburg on Saturday, Oct. 4.
