Shippensburg University Assistant Director of Sports Medicine Tanya Miller '97 received the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) Athletic Trainer Service Award Wednesday at the annual NATA Convention Wednesday afternoon in Orlando, Fla.
 
According to the organization, the Athletic Trainer Service award recognizes NATA members for their commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy and professional activities at the local and state levels. Athletic Trainer Service award recipients have been involved in professional association, community organizations, grassroots public relations efforts and service as a volunteer athletic trainer.
 
Award winners must have 20 years Board of Certification (BOC) and 20 years as a NATA member in good standing.
 
She was one of just eight athletic trainers from around the country to be recognized.
 
It is the second straight summer Miller has been recognized for her outstanding work in the field. Last year, she garnered the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society (PATS) Distinguished Merit Award for her work as the organization's Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee, where she has helped lobby at the state government level for legislation pertaining to athletic training.
