Shippensburg University seniors Gio Calamia and Carter Hinds were named Thursday to the 2025 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division II Atlantic Region All-Defensive Team.

It is the second regional All-Defensive Team selection of Calamia's career, who was previously honored in 2023, and the first selection of Hinds' career.

Calamia was the only Raider to start all 50 games at the same position in 2025. SU's center fielder did not commit an error – successfully converting all 108 of his defensive chances this season while being credited with two outfield assists.

Hinds started 49 games at shortstop – missing just one contest due to illness. He handled 181 defensive chances in 2025 and committed only four errors, resulting in a terrific .978 fielding percentage while playing a premium position. He also had a hand in turning 26 double plays. In Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division games, Hinds committed just one error over the course of 82 defensive chances (27 games).

Since its current awards structure was established in 2023, Shippensburg has had five selections to the Atlantic Region All-Defensive Team. First baseman Austin Baal was recognized last season, while two years ago, pitcher Eric Bohenek was honored alongside Calamia.

Players selected to the ABCA NCAA Division II Region All-Defensive teams were eligible for ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors. The 2025 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners in all divisions were announced on Wednesday. From the Atlantic Region, Seton Hill outfielder Jack Whalen nabbed a Gold Glove.

Founded in 1945, the ABCA is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 40 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
