The Shippensburg University softball team had three of its players named Tuesday to the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-District ® Team, an award that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom.
Sophomore
Madalyn Dyer is a management major concentrating in human resource management who maintained a 3.81 cumulative grade point average (GPA) during the Spring 2025 semester. Dyer posted a 6-1 record in 38.2 innings pitched for the Raiders this season, posting 21 strikeouts.
Junior
Caitlyn Martell is a marketing major who maintained a 3.82 cumulative GPA during the Spring 2025 semester. Martell earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division First Team and All-Region honors at shortstop with a .398 batting average. She ranked among the league's Top 10 in hits (82) and total bases (119) while slugging five home runs, 12 doubles and five triples.
Sophomore
Sarah Sabocsik is an exercise science major with an allied health pre-professional concentration who maintained a 3.83 cumulative GPA during the Spring 2025 semester. Sabocsik led the Raiders with 17 doubles while batting .379, the second-best mark on the team. She added three triples, 34 RBIs and 39 runs scored.
Martell is now a two-time Academic All-District ® honoree. It is the first Academic All-District ® recognition for Dyer and Sabocsik.
The Academic All-District ® Team is coordinated by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
Per CSC, eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
