SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's outdoor track & field team finished in second place at the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, wrapping up three days of competition Saturday by totaling 148 points in action at sunny Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
Overall, Shippensburg completed the meet with 27 individual scoring performances – winning four events and totaling 11 All-PSAC (Top 3) performances.
On Saturday,
Bernard Bell III won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.44 seconds and
Robbie Hrabosky II defended his PSAC title in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 52.27 seconds.
Bell III became just the fourth Raider in the last 30 years to win the 110-meter hurdles, joining Charles Bowman (2019), Corey Nolan (2002) and current head coach
Dave Osanitsch (1993 and 1995). He completed the finals in a PR of 14.44 seconds to claim the gold medal after finishing second last season as a freshman.
This year's runner-up was senior
Jeovaughni Daniel, who finished close behind Bell III with a time of 14.56 seconds. It's the third straight year that Daniel has scored at the conference meet, accompanying a fourth-place finish last season and a sixth-place finish in 2023.
The 1-2 finish in the 110-meter hurdles marks the first time that Shippensburg has done in 32 years, when Osanitsch, Barry Kline and Jason Fowler went 1-2-3 in 1993.
Hrabosky II edged Lock Haven's Josiah Schans by .08 seconds to win his second straight 400-meter hurdles title by running 52.27 seconds. He completes his career with four PSAC Top 5 finishes in the intermediate hurdles, becoming the first Raider to achieve the feat since Mark Piccolo did 20 years ago (Piccolo won bookend titles in 2002 and 2005 while finishing fourth in 2003 and third in 2004).
His victory continued a trend in the PSAC where the last six PSAC champions in the 400-meter hurdles have defended their title at least once. This now dates back 15 years: KU's Kori Meshaw (2011-13), Eric Bologa (2014-15), SRU's Jacob VanHouten (2016-17), Jonathan Stiles (2018-19) and Seton Hill's Sam Hartman (2011-23).
Travis Wilk joined Hrabosky II on the awards stand for the 400-meter hurdles, finishing third with an All-PSAC finish of 53.28 seconds that improved his PR. It is the second straight year that the two men have gone 1-3 in the 400 hurdles.
Three Raiders finished as event runner-ups. In the javelin, first-year
Jackson Hersh impressed with his second-place throw of 210 feet (64.01 meters) that was achieved on his final attempt and moved him up three spots in the standings. It is the highest finish by a Raider in the javelin since Alec Stimson was the 2021 runner-up.
Garrett Quinan led three Raider scorers in the 5K with a second-place time of 15:05.72. It's the third straight Top 5 finish for Quinan, who won the event last year and was fourth in 2023.
Aiden Gonder and
Ryan Wolfe finished fifth and seventh respectively in the 5K. Gonder, who completed his fifth and final PSAC 5K, became a three-time scorer (sixth last year, seventh in 2021), while Wolfe scored for the second time after having won the event in 2023.
Ian Sherlock paced three Raider scorers in the 1,500 meters, turning in a time of 3:51.81. Sherlock made history becoming a five-time place-winner in the event – he won last year, finished second in 2023, eighth in 2022 and sixth in 2021.
Ramon Urena and Wolfe ran 5-6. Urena delivered a huge PR by running 3:55.95, while Wolfe delivered a time of 3:57.71 in his inaugural PSAC 1,500-meter race.
Both Quinan and Sherlock finished second in their respective events to IUP's Mike Formica, who received this year's Championships Outstanding Track Athlete honor for his conference titles.
Freshman
Owen Shrader was SU's only entry in the 800 meters but it didn't stop him from delivering an All-PSAC finish in his debut by running 1:54.13. It marks the fifth straight year that a Raider has posted an All-PSAC performance in the race.
Quinton Townsend scored for the first time outdoors in the 400 meters, placing fifth with a time of 48.44 seconds.
To conclude the meet, the quartet of Hrabosky II,
Jak Kearney,
James Jaisingh and Townsend narrowly missed out on first place in the 4x400-meter relay, teaming up for a blistering second-place time of 3:12.95. Jaisingh was timed at 47.89 seconds for his leg, while Townsend's recorded split on the anchor was 47.17 seconds.
Saturday marked the first time that two schools both broke 3:13 in the 4x4 relay since the meet record was set in 2014 – a year that the Raiders (3:12.05) edged ESU (3:12.07) by .02 seconds.
Logan Rodkey,
Jae Galloway,
Lavar Jackson and
Gabriel Lewis teamed up for the 4x100-meter relay. Lewis, the anchor leg, suffered an injury at the end of the 4x100-meter relay, which resulted in the Raiders settling for eighth place in the final.
In open competition, Galloway finished sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.67 seconds. Lewis's injury forced him to have to jog to complete his finals in both the 100 and 200 meters, but by completing each race it allowed him to claim eighth place and contribute points toward the team score – validation for his work in the prelims. ESU's Miguel Charlery also had to do the same as Lewis in the 100 meters due to an injury.
Gian Greggo finished the weekend by pacing the Raiders in all three throws. In the shot, Greggo placed fourth for the second straight year – his top mark Saturday traveled 54 feet, 4 ¾ inches (16.58 meters). Joining him as a place-winner was first-year thrower
Colin Melhorn, who finished sixth with a PR put of 53 feet, 2 ¼ inches (16.21 meters).
Aiden Zimmerman reached the finals of the javelin, ultimately finishing ninth with a top throw of 185 feet, 11 inches (56.66 meters).
East Stroudsburg won its first-ever conference title in school history, edging the Raiders by 17.5 points to claim the blue trophy. SU finished ahead of third-place Slippery Rock by 22 points.
