The Shippensburg University baseball team concluded its nonconference slate with a nine-inning setback against regionally-ranked Frostburg State Tuesday afternoon at Bob Wells Field, 11-3.
Shippensburg (25-20) held Frostburg State (32-13) state in check until the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Bobcats rallied for five runs and nine total over their next two turns.
Sophomore
Bryce Amos started for Shippensburg and did not allow a hit over two scoreless innings. Redshirt-senior
Cameron Goble followed with two innings of one-run baseball in relief.
Senior
Carter Hinds legged out an infield single to tie the score at 1-1 in the top half of the fifth inning. Freshman

Bryce Herb drove in runs with RBI singles in the top of the sixth.
Shippensburg pitching had difficulty stopping the Frostburg rallies once they got started. The Bobcats plated four of their five fifth inning runs with two outs. Three of their four runs in the sixth inning also came with two men gone in the frame.
Frostburg's Jake Holler was 2-for-3 with a walk, hit by pitch and two runs scored, while Kade Abrisz was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
SU sophomore
Mason Morris reached base in all four of his plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
Herb went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Hinds tallied a pair of hits and an RBI.
Bobcat starter Joe Pippin allowed just one earned run on six hits over five innings.
SU junior
J.T. Weaver made his first appearance since April 13 and tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning out of the SU bullpen.
The Raiders return to action Thursday with a Senior Day doubleheader against Kutztown beginning at 1 p.m. SU can clinch a spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament with a win.
