SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University junior
Jack Robinson was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office.
Â
Robinson did not allow a run as he earned the save in both games of Shippensburg's doubleheader sweep of Shepherd Saturday at home.
Â
The SU closer struck out a batter and coaxed a game-ending double play grounder to nail down a 5-2 host victory in Game 1.
Â
In Game 2 he was even more impressive. Coming on to maintain a 3-1 SU lead in the sixth, Robinson fanned six batters over the next two frames – striking out the side in order in the seventh on eleven pitches – to finish off a vital doubleheader sweep.
Â
Robinson totaled seven strikeouts and zero walks in three innings pitched.
Â
The award is the first conference weekly honor for Robinson and the second for the Raiders this season.
J.T. Weaver was previously named PSAC East Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18.
