Shippensburg University freshman
Riyah Whigham was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
Â
Whigham set new collegiate bests in the long jump and the triple jump this weekend at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational.
Â
On Friday, Whigham enhanced her collegiate best in the long jump, posting an eighth-place finish of 18 feet, 11 inches (5.77 meters) that came on her second attempt. It surpassed her jump of 18 feet, 10 3/4 inches (5.76 meters) that she achieved in the season opener at the beginning of December. Both of those marks are NCAA provisional qualifiers. She remains the PSAC leader in the event and ranks 34th on the national list.
Â
On Saturday, Whigham enhanced her PR in the triple jump to 36 feet, 9 3/4 inches (11.22 meters). That moved her to eighth on the league leaderboard in that event.
Â
The award is the first conference weekly honor of Whigham's career and the first for the Raiders this season. The last Raider to win PSAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week was sprinter
Leah Graybill on January 22, 2024.
