The Shippensburg University men's swimming team competed in a dual meet Friday night at Clarion in which the host Golden Eagles posted a 152.5-44.5 victory over the Raiders in action at Waldo Tippin Gymnasium.
Mason Koeth delivered a pair of performances that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifying standards. He was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.33 and took third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.58 seconds.
Robbie Ferlick broke the 22-second mark in the 50-yard freestyle with a second-place time and PSAC cut of 21.87 seconds.
Ian Deck finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:09.72.
SU put on a hard charge at the end of the meet and came up just short in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the quartet of Koeth,
Josh Wall,
Josh Einolf and Ferlick delivered a time of 1:27.59 - .48 seconds behind the Golden Eagles.
Shippensburg will now begin training for its first "taper" meet of the season. In two weeks, SU is back in action at the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational beginning Friday, Nov. 21.
