The Shippensburg University field hockey team will face East Stroudsburg at 5:30 p.m. Friday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship Semifinal matchup at Kutztown University's Andre Reed Stadium.

Shippensburg is in the PSAC Tournament for the 24th consecutive season and for the 34th time in school history. It is the 32nd time in the 46-year history of the conference tournament that the Raiders have reached the PSAC Semifinals.

Overall, SU is 21-30 all-time in the PSAC Tournament, including 15-16 in the PSAC Semifinals.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to the PSAC Championship match on Sunday at noon and will face either top seed Kutztown or No. 4 seed West Chester.

Shippensburg (15-3) vs. East Stroudsburg (16-2)

It will be the second meeting of the season between the Raiders and the Warriors. On Oct. 11, East Stroudsburg earned a 3-2 victory at Whitenight Field.

The last two PSAC Championship Games have been contested by the two teams. Last year at Shippensburg, the Raiders claimed the league title with a 1-0 overtime victory. In 2023 at East Stroudsburg, the Warriors won 2-1 in double overtime to earn the league's top honor.

Shippensburg has conceded only 11 goals all season – the third fewest in the nation behind Kutztown (10) and Newberry (10). The three goals scored by ESU in the Oct. 11 contest are the most by a Raider opponent in a game this season.

East Stroudsburg ranks third in the nation in goals per game (3.94; 71 in 18 games), trailing only Newberry (5.4) and Kutztown (5.2). The Warriors have two double-digit goal scorers and seven players with five or more goals this season.

PSAC Tournament history between the teams: This will be the sixth time that the Raiders and Warriors are meeting in the PSAC Tournament. East Stroudsburg holds a 3-2 overall record in the series (2024 Finals, SHIP 1-0 (OT); 2023 Finals, ESU 2-1 (2OT); 2018 Semifinals, SHIP 3-0 (at WCU); 2010 Semifinals, ESU 2-1 (at Bloomsburg); 2001 Semifinals, ESU 2-1 (OT) (at Lock Haven)).

Overall series history between the teams: Friday will be the 71st all-time matchup between the two teams, with the Raiders holding a 40-28-2 series advantage. In the last 10 series meetings dating back through 2019, each team has won five.
