SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University redshirt junior Markus Frank was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men's Basketball East Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office.
 
Frank averaged 24.5 points per game on 55.6 percent shooting (20-36) from the field and 42.9 percent from three (4-7) in a 2-0 week for the Raiders.
 
The SU guard's best effort came in Friday's win over previously unbeaten Wilmington (Del.). He poured in a season-best 32 points on 56.5 percent shooting (13-23) and hit the game-winning basket in overtime to beat the Wildcats at home, 95-94.
 
Frank started the contest red-hot, scoring 22 first half points on 9-of-12 from the field (75 percent). He knocked down seven of his first eight shot attempts, netting the Raiders' first seven points, and made his first three attempts from beyond the arc.
 
He later scored a pair of fast break buckets to help the Raiders erase an 11-point deficit in the final five minutes of regulation, and put back his own miss to give SU the lead to cap the SU comeback with under 10 seconds remaining in overtime.
 
He also added three assists and three steals.
 
Additionally, Frank scored 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting (53.8 percent) and hit the game-winning free throws in a Wednesday home win over Chestnut Hill, 67-65.
 
The award is the first weekly recognition for the Raiders this season and the third of Frank's career. He previously won the award on Nov. 19, 2024 and Dec. 4, 2023.
