SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team came back from an 11-point deficit with five minutes to go in regulation to defeat Wilmington (Del.) in overtime in a back-and-forth thriller Saturday afternoon at Heiges Field House, 95-94.

Shippensburg (3-1) senior Timmy Conner drained a deep game-tying three-pointer with a second left on the clock to force overtime, and the Raiders out-scored the Wildcats 10-9 in the extra session to pull out the victory.

Markus Frank netted a season-high 32 points for Shippensburg on 13-of-23 shooting (57 percent). Michael Dickson added 21 points and a team-high seven assists, and Jaydon Smith totaled a season-high 19.

Wilmington (3-1) had five players reach double-figures, led by a double-double from Tre Hawkins (21 points, 13 rebounds).

The roller coaster ride began with Frank fueling an outstanding first 20 minutes for Shippensburg. SU shot 53.1 percent from the field (17-of-32) and eclipsed its previous season-high with eight threes in the first half alone (8-of-16).

Frank scored 22 first half points on 9-of-12 from the field (75 percent). He started seven of eight from the field, netting the Raiders' first seven points, and made his first three attempts from beyond the arc.

SU led Wilmington by as many as 15 points and took a 12-point advantage into the locker room at halftime, 48-36.

The Wildcats scored the first seven points following the break as part of a greater 32-10 run to start the second half that put the visitors in front by double-digits, 68-58.

After Wilmington missed its first two field goal attempts of the frame, the Wildcats went 11-of-15 from the field during that stretch – including 3-of-4 from three – while Shippensburg converted just four-of-17 in that same span.

The Raiders began to climb their way back with three minutes left in regulation, as Trey Martin drained a three to cut the deficit back down to six, 79-73, with 2:56 left on the clock.

A pair of steals led to two additional Frank baskets, the second of which brought the Raiders back to within one, 83-82, with 59 seconds remaining.

Two one-of-two trips to the foul line for Wilmington left the door open for SU to potentially tie the score down three with 6.3 seconds left.

The Raiders pulled off an out-of-bounds play that featured a series of dangerous cross-court passes and resulted in a wide-open attempt for Conner two-feet beyond the three-point arc. The senior stepped into his long look and buried it, tying the game and forcing overtime.

Shippensburg trailed late once again in the extra session, down 94-93 with 26.7 remaining.

This time it was Frank that came through, rebounding and converting his own miss to give SU a 95-94 edge with under 10 seconds left.

Dickson forced a held ball on the ensuing Wilmington possession for a turnover that all but sealed the Raider victory.

The Raiders amassed 17 total steals, with six players collecting two-or-more thefts. Dickson led the way with a season-high four.

Jackson Boone recorded his second straight game with a career-high in rebounds, finishing with nine.

For Wilmington, Saturday's contest marked the team's third straight overtime game decided by two points or less. They previously netted OT wins over D'Youville and Millersville on Nov. 15 and Nov. 19.

The Raiders are back at Heiges Field House Monday for a nonleague tilt against Cheney. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
