SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University field hockey team earned the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic Region and the No. 3 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championships as the tournament field was announced Sunday night via an online selection show.
Â
By virtue of being a Top 4 seed, Shippensburg (17-3) will host a national quarterfinal on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Robb Sports Complex. The start time will be confirmed soon by the NCAA.
Â
Saturday's quarterfinal will be a matchup of 2025 conference champions, as the Raiders of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) will take on No. 6 seed Saint Anselm (16-5) from the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10).
Â
Both teams were the No. 3 seeds in their respective conference tournaments and won three straight games en route to league titles.
Â
It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams. SU won 4-0 back on Sept. 14 in a neutral-site game that was played at Widener University.
Â
The Hawks are the reigning national champions after their 1-0 defeat of Kutztown last season.
Â
Shippensburg advances to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and for the 19th time in school history. SU is 18-13 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including five national championships (2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021).
Â
All four quarterfinal matches will be played Saturday at various campus sites.
Â
Bloomsburg is the host of the 2025 NCAA Division II National Semifinals (11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21) and the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship Game (12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23).
