SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University redshirt-sophomore running back
Andre Weidman was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Football Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office after a breakout performance in Saturday's 43-14 victory over West Chester.
Â

Weidman had a day to remember, totaling 23 carries, 168 yards and the first 4 TDs of his career to aid SU to its largest win over the Golden Rams since 1921.
Â
Saturday marked the first time a Raider totaled four rushing touchdowns in a single game in 21 years, dating back to John Kuhn having a 5-TD game at Clarion on Oct. 23, 2004.
Â
He keyed an SU rushing attack that ran for 274 yards; the most rushing yards in a single game by the Raiders in eight years, dating back to the final game of the 2017 regular season (326 yards in a 51-13 win over Seton Hill).
Â
Weidman had three straight scores in a 12-minute span of the second half. He only had one negative rush and capped a career afternoon with a big 60-yard fourth quarter touchdown run for his fourth and final touchdown.
Â
He entered Saturday with career totals of 21 carries and 93 rushing yards in 16 collegiate games.
Â
The Raiders won two of the three weekly awards for Week 10. In addition to Weidman, sophomore
Ty Neal earned PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week honors. Neal notched a 70-yard punt return touchdown Saturday.
Â
It is the first PSAC weekly award of Weidman's career. He is the first Eastern Division Offensive Athlete of the Week award winner for the Raiders since
Riley Gunnels on Oct. 13.
