The Shippensburg University football team was unable to get past Shepherd on Saturday, falling 48-7 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Ram Stadium.

Shippensburg (2-7, 2-4 PSAC East) opened the game with a flourish, driving 75 yards on 13 plays to score a touchdown and take a 7-0 lead.
Riley Gunnels connected with
Jaevon Parker on an 8-yard strike to put the Raiders up 7-0. Parker had a 30-yard reception earlier in the drive.

Shepherd (5-4, 5-1) evened the score at the 12:32 mark of the second quarter and finished the game with 48 unanswered points. The Rams were able to score on eight of their 12 full drives (six touchdowns, two field goals) while holding the Raiders to just 28 yards of offense after the opening series.

Parker finished with a team-high five receptions for 63 yards. Gunnels was 10-of-20 for 83 yards; he was intercepted twice (once on a long heave at the end of the first half).

Defensively,
Gabe Benjamin totaled a game-high eight tackles.
DJ Jackson and
Josh Lesesne each made seven tackles, with Lesesne being credited with a pair of pass breakups.

Jordan Barnett had 15 carries for 162 yards and a pair of scores for Shepherd. The Rams totaled 308 rushing yards and scored five of their six touchdowns on the ground.
