The Shippensburg University men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 defensive battle at Millersville in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division action Saturday at Pucillo Field.
Shippensburg (3-6-4, 0-4-3 PSAC East) came up short despite an outstanding effort from
Ryan Krumenacker in the SU goal. Krumenacker made a season-high nine saves, including numerous highlight reel stops in the loss.
Millersville (8-3-3, 5-1-1) needed a perfect shot to beat Krumenacker, and they got it from forward Mason Quinton in the 33rd minute.
A well-weighted through ball from Millersville's Juan Ortiz Escobar sent Quinton in on goal. Krumenacker rushed off his line to force Quinton into a difficult angle shot, and Quinton proceeded to ping the ball off the inside of the far post. The ball caromed back across the face of goal and eventually nestled into the side netting just inside the near post.
Krumenacker faced a total of 29 shots, with 11 of those attempts landing on goal.
Shippensburg returns to action Wednesday at home against Shepherd. Kick-off from David See Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
